This schedule is subject to change depending on the time necessary for students to demonstrate proficiency with the tools covered and to complete each successive project. Attendance is mandatory for all classes.

Class 1 with Neil

TH 10/4 First Day - Begin project 1 – Student website/portfolio. This project is due at the end of the semester but we will be reviewing your web-site in progress over the course of the semester

Begin Project 2, Art of the Gif - Photoshop tutorial

 

T 10/9 GIF workshops + Photoshop tutorials - data bending, filters, other techniques. Students should have 3 to 6 Gifs utilizing different techniques complete and published to their websites by the end of class

TH 10/11 Project 2 critiques - Turn in GIF file to Neil for posting to class website - Begin Project 3, Discuss surrealism

Adobe After Effect tutorials

Homework: Come to our next class with images and ideas and ideas for Project 3 - Surreal Animation

 

T 10/16 Surreal animation workshops

TH 10/18 Finish Project 3  - Your Surreal animation must be fully rendered with sound design, uploaded to YouTube and published to student websites by end of class

T 10/23 Critique Project 3 for the first 1/3rd of class - Begin Project 4, Creating with Code/Introduction to Processing. Video tutorials hosted by Daniel Shiffman.

TH 10/25 Finish Project 4 Creating with Code and discuss.  Begin Project 5, Creating Audio Narratives. Listen to examples hand out DR05 recorders. Homework: Record test material so you're ready to start editing next class

T 10/30 Audio Narrative workshops on Garage Band and digital audio recording techniques

TH 11/1 Finish Project 5 Audio Narratives and publish to student websites for review before the end of class

T 11/6  Critique Project 5, Begin Project 6 Video Ventures - Review examples, tutorial on smart phone videography techniques.

TH 11/8 Video Ventures workshops + Final cut and editing tutorial

Homework: Start thinking about what you want to do for Project 7 and work on your presentation materials over break

TH 11/15 Finish Project 6 Video Ventures and publish to youtube or vimeo - then embed the video into a page on student websites for review before the end of class

Homework: Be ready to present your idea for a final project to the class on Tuesday
